Award of the Best College

 About the Award

It is one of the King Abdul Aziz University awards for scientific research. it is awarded yearly to the outstanding college in scientific research. The award aims to motivate colleges to improve scientific research activities, and to transfer the university to higher levels of research excellence to be among the ranks of globally distinguished research universities. There are a total of four prizes, one for each of the following fields:

Basic and Life Sciences:

• Includes: Faculty of Sciences (Girls Campus and North Campus), Faculty of Sciences and Humanities (Rabigh Campus, Khulais Campus, and AlKamel Campus), Faculty of Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture, Faculty of Marine Science, and Faculty of Earth Science. 

Engineering Sciences and Information Technology:

• Includes: Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Environmental Designs, and Faculty of Maritime Studies.

Medical Science:

• Includes: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Pharmacy.

Social and Human Sciences:

• Include: Faculty Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Home Economics, Faculty of Communication and Media, Faculty of Art and Design, Community College.

Prize awarding criteria:

• The number of International, Regional, and local prizes.

• The number of patents and scientific discoveries.

• Partnership program projects and international research cooperation and external research.

• Papers published in international classified journals and authored and translated books.

• Conferences and workshops held by the college locally and internationally or participated in internationally.

   

• Award value:

   

• Once prize of SAR 30,000 for each field.

   

• Extra benefits:

   

  1. Certificate of appreciation from the rector.

      

  2. A special trophy.

      

  3. Publicizing the incident in the public media, the university newspaper, the university web site, and the electronic boards all over the main campus.

      

      

• Requirements:

   

  1. The college must have at least one patent attributed to king Abdulaziz University in Basic science, Engineering science, or information technology. For other sciences, a scientific discovery or achievement can substitute for the patent if accepted by the prize committee.

      

  2. The College must have at least three (3) projects, according to the national plan (Excluded from this requirement are faculties of Social Sciences).

      

  3. The college must have, at least, three published papers in the top 10% of the classified periodicals according to the Thomson Reuters Web of Science (ISI).

      

  4. The college must apply electronically through the electronic gate.

      

  5. All the achievements must be in the same year of the prize announcement.

      

  6. The scientific activities and awards must be of the faculty members of the college.
