Abstract : The aim of this research the definition of the Arab reader in different types of internationally recognized indicators to measure the activity of stock markets and identify ways that researchers calculated. It also aims to study the composition of some indicators of the Saudi stock market and choosing the appropriate index for this market. The study, conducted using three indicators are recognized: the weighted index and simple index of equal weight and equal weight index to measure the performance of the engineering stock market in Saudi Arabia. I have been finding these indicators for different sectors identified by the Ministry of Finance and is the industrial sector and the agricultural sector and the financial sector and the services sector. The study found that the difference between these three indicators within the sector is small and can be neglected, as the correlation coefficient between them is high. But there are significant differences between the various sector indices of the different characteristics of these sectors, including the subsidy provided by the state of some of these sectors (such as the services sector and the agricultural sector) and thus suggests that this will be taken into account and uses the index for each sector to identify the activity and the movement of the sector and the general market. These indicators were compared with the index and the Ministry of Finance and found a strong correlation between them and the indicators measured and found to be indicators of the Ministry of Finance is very much like index and the Ministry of Finance. In terms of the ability of the general indicators measured index and the Ministry of Finance in the direction with the money supply, which is one of leading economic indicators index found that the arithmetic (simple) the best. She also highlighted the indicators measured by connecting the best indicator of the Ministry of Finance.
