Subject : The abundance and diversity of butterfly fish communities and their relationship to coral cover
Document Language : Arabic
Abstract : Butterfly fishes (chaetodontidae) have been proposed as ideal indicators of coral reef quality due to their dependency on corals for food and habitat. Any degradation seen in the costal environment should be reflected in the abundances of the fish, which would be expected to emigrate to healthier reefs. An investigation will be carried out in Jeddah city on the western shores of Saudi Arabia with the aim of investigating the abundance, diversity and their relationship to coral cover.
